Gerry joined KTBS 3 News in 2001, and co-anchors weeknights at 5, 6 and 10. A veteran of television news since 1985, he graduated on the Dean's Honor Roll at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Big stories Gerry has covered include the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the Northridge earthquake in California in 1994, and a military transport plane disaster in 1995, where Gerry’s live reporting earned an Idaho Press Club Award. The Oklahoma Associated Press honored Gerry for his report on the farm crisis in 1986. Gerry also enjoyed covering Super Bowl XLIV in south Florida, where the New Orleans Saints won their first NFL championship.
The thrill seeker in Gerry has put him in the cockpits of the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels, showing viewers what it’s like to soar through daring, high performance aerobatics. Gerry's anchoring and reporting skills have also been put to use in the local movie industry. He's landed bit roles in "Beyond A Reasonable Doubt," "The Longshots," "Super," "Drive Angry," "Playing The Field," and "Dog Fight."
Gerry’s career began in Sherman, Texas, which is near his hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma. When he’s not on TV, Gerry is frequently seen on local golf courses. Swimming and weight training are also part of his stay-fit routine.
