Alexandra Cranford joined the KTBS 3 Storm Team in October 2011. You can catch her forecasts weekdays on KTBS 3 First News, KTBS 3 News at 7 a.m. and KTBS 3 News Midday.

Growing up on the Northshore of New Orleans, Alexandra learned early that weather has a tremendous effect on people’s lives. Hurricanes Katrina, Ike and Gustav introduced her to how powerful weather can be. Those storms sparked Alexandra’s fascination with weather that led to her career in meteorology.

Alexandra graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2009 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Alexandra has also worked as a NASA Science and Engineering Apprentice in the Naval Research Laboratory’s Office of Oceanography. She also served as Chief Forecaster for LSU’s campus news program and worked in a Biological Sciences Laboratory as part of her LSU Chancellor’s Scholarship.

Alexandra has received awards and scholarships from groups like the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, Women in Media and the LSU Honors College.

When she’s not at KTBS, you might find Alexandra jogging around Shreveport, playing tennis or studying her meteorology books. She also loves reading, cooking and spending as much time as possible outside - in almost all types of weather!
