FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- A free recycling program for electronic products such as cell phones and computers has been restarted by Arkansas environmental officials and the Federal Prison Industries.

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and the federal government corporation -- also known as UNICOR -- conducted Project Green Fed on a trial basis in 2005 and 2006. They have now resumed the program and plan to operate it through June 30th of next year. The program is intended to reuse components of old electronic equipment, as well as reduce the amount of these materials going into landfills.

The program offers free shipping and recycling of electronic products, including computers, monitors, printers, television sets, cell phones, fax machines, video game players, cameras, rechargeable batteries and audio-visual equipment. There is no charge for shipping or recycling materials, but participants must provide their own boxes.

Specifications for the boxes and free shipping labels can be found on the program's web site or is available by calling 501-682-0812.
