BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana-based home healthcare company will pay $150 million to settle allegations that it submitted false bills to the federal Medicare program. Federal prosecutors say the settlement follows allegations that Amedisys, Inc. and its affiliates billed Medicare for nursing and therapy sessions provided to ineligible patients, among other matters.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A state Senate Health committee has rejected a bid to expand Louisiana's Medicaid program as allowed under the federal health care overhaul. The 6-2 vote Wednesday against expansion likely ends the Senate's debate on the issue for the session.
