NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A group supporting taxpayer-funded private school tuition vouchers is appealing a federal judge's order that Louisiana must provide regular reports to federal officials on the state's voucher program. U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle ordered the reports in April.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's health department says it has pulled together enough funding to keep Baton Rouge General Hospital's Mid-City emergency room open. The hospital has said it's been losing $1 million a month and would have to close the ER on Nov. 1 but now says it is working on a long-term solution to keeping that operation running.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Discovery Channel has canceled reality TV star Will Hayden's popular "Sons of Guns" show after his arrest on an aggravated rape charge. The sheriff's office in East Baton Rouge Parish says Hayden was arrested Tuesday on a charge accusing him of raping a child.
AVONDALE, La. (AP) - The IndyCar series says the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana will be held on April 12 of next year. Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne joined IndyCar president Mark Miles and other officials for a formal announcement of the date Wednesday afternoon at NOLA Motorsports Park, which will host the race.
