Shreveport Mayor: The race for second
POSTED: 8:28 pm CDT September 27, 2010UPDATED: 10:51 pm CDT September 27, 2010The latest polling from over the weekend in the Shreveport Mayor's race is woeful news for Bryan Wooley. The numbers -- hot off the grill after the Wooley campaign's ill-designed flyer to lure early voters with free food and a limo ride -- show that he's flipped places with David Cox, who now holds second place and a shot at Mayor Cedric Glover in a runoff. The poll shows:Glover 39%Cox 22%Wooley 14%Roy Burrell 9%That's according to KTBS 3 Political Analyst Scott Hughes, who viewed the numbers from "a well respected polling firm" based out of Baton Rouge. If the numbers are right, then Wooley's downward trend that began at the start of the month with his oversize sign controversy, and continued with a questionable endorsement from fellow councilman Ron Webb, then the "Wings and More" furor has him bottoming out."He's in trouble," Hughes says. "All the constant missteps are taking their toll. People are moving to Cox."Wooley still has five days to rally. But indications now are that the man who was leading the race in fundraising, may've blown his political capital.
