Dry & Stable Sounding This Evening

The 0Z sounding from the Shreveport National Weather Service and www.rap.ucar.edu shows a very stable atmosphere. The column is quite dry with the dew point (green) and temperature (red) lines far apart. The exception is where a few cirrus clouds showed up at about the 375 mb pressure level or 25-30,000 Feet. Here the lines are much closer indicating more saturated conditions.

South winds at the surface show that the surface high is east of the area. It's also keeping us quite humid. East winds higher up in the atmosphere indicated that the upper ridge is to our NE. These winds could be the steering currents for Bonnie and push the storm right up our way.

Bonnie appears to be quite a weak system and would be more of a rain producer than wind maker.

Back to the sounding, tonight's graph illustrates stable weather and no rain is expected in the near future. That could change late this weekend depending on the tropics.

Stay tuned to KTBS 3 News throughout the weekend for the latest.
