Saturday Evening Sounding

POSTED: 9:04 pm CDT July 24, 2010
The ArkLaTex was mostly rain free today due to subsidence or sinking air from the perimeter of Bonnie. As Bonnie gets closer-increasing moisture and a cooling upper atmosphere with our strong high atmospheric ridge moving away will give us a better rain chance especially with warmer afternoon temps on Sunday and Monday afternoons. Here, surface heating should allow increased instability and growing CAPEs to add to the above changes.

This evening though, our sounding from the Shreveport National Weather Service and www.rap.ucar.edu is stable. And as we have our diurnal cooling for the rest of tonight, the stability increases even more. So the rain chance is minimal tonight.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
