Rainy Evening Sounding
POSTED: 9:08 pm CDT July 28, 2010Lingering rains from dissipating showers/storms made for a saturated atmospheric column tonight in www.rap.ucar.edu's skew-t/log-p plotting of the weather balloon data from the Shreveport National Weather Service. 100% humidity was recorded for several thousand feet indicating clouds and rain falling at the time of the balloon flight. The rain cooled air helped generate an inversion layer below 2,000 FT which should keep any other rain storms from forming or moving in. Here, there are no atmospheric dynamics to provide lift in our area and we are sitting under a bubble high from earlier showers/storms. So, boundaries from other rain areas most likely won't affect our weather for the rest of tonight.Over the next few days, the upper ridge takes back over and heats plus dries us out. With our soil evaporating moisture with this heating, very muggy weather conditions are likely to persist into the weekend. When the soil does dry out some, high temperatures may rise over 100 degrees for several days (i.e. this weekend through next week).Stay tuned to KTBS 3 News for weather and forecast updates.Have a good night.
