Thursday Evening Sounding
POSTED: 10:39 pm CDT September 2, 2010This evening's weather balloon data from the Shreveport National Weather Service and graphed by www.rap.ucar.edu shows a fairly stable atmosphere in Shreveport. At launch time, temperatures near the surface were falling allowing for an inversion layer to develop. With the already small CAPE (i.e.storm energy), the shower/storm chance was not too impressive and getting worse with the evening cooling.A weather disturbance in the area had a tough time bringing rain to Shreveport with it's lift and cooling in the mid-upper atmosphere today. This weather feature will slip south with the surface cold front late tonight-Friday. The combination of the two, should help increase our shower/storm chance a little before the drier and cooler air arrives later in the day Friday.Stay tuned to KTBS 3 First News at 4:30 AM for the latest forecast with Jennifer Gray.
