Hurley School Of Music Faculty Recital Tonight

POSTED: 1:53 pm CDT August 31, 2010The Hurley School of Music will present the first faulty recital of the 2010-2011 academic year tonight at 7:30p.m. in the Anderson Auditorium. The recital is free and open to the public.Faculty performing include Dr. Ross Smith, piano; and Dr. Horace English, bass baritone, who will be assisted by Dr. Gay Grosz on piano.Dr. Smith will perform solo piano music of Russia at the turn of the 20th century, music that is dark and passionate, as well as hopeful and reaching. Dr. English, accompanied by Dr. Grosz, will perform art songs of early 20th century England, as well as a group of German art songs which represent the beauty of German romantic music for solo voice in the late 19th century.Dr. Smith is Associate Professor of Piano at Centenary. He is active as a performer, lecturer, and teacher, and will present a lecture recital on Chopin at the State Convention of the Louisiana Music Teachers Association in the fall. Dr. English is Professor of Voice at Centenary and is also active as a performer in opera, oratorio and recital. Dr. Grosz is Collaborative Artist in Residence at Centenary and is well-known as a soloist and teacher.
