37th annual Great American Smokeout
American Cancer Society urges tobacco users to quit
The 37th annual Great American Smokeout, hosted by American Cancer Society, encourages tobacco users to quit for good, quit for the day, or make plans to quit.
American Cancer Society says tobacco use is still the the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the country. Their estimates show more than 43 million Americans smoke cigarettes.
According to Quit With Us, Louisiana, "estimates show 70% of current smokers would like to quit smoking completely, but only 5-7% are able to quit each year."
