As the show's mantra goes, "Girls" is a homage to young women who are "almost getting it kind of together."

It's clearly resonating with young women and everyone else, too, as the hit HBO series, which follows a group of 20-something friends as they struggle to make it in New York, won two Golden Globes Sunday night, including best TV comedy.

In preparation for the season two premiere, which bowed on HBO the same night as the Globes, CNN talked to the cast about the biggest mistakes people make in their 20s.

"I think the biggest mistake girls in their 20s make is thinking they know more than they do," Lena Dunham, "Girls'" creator and star, told CNN at the season two premiere last week. "It's OK to say 'I don't know.' It's not OK to act like you know, and therefore make heinous mistakes that come from a place of fake knowledge."

Dunham's character on the show, Hannah, embodies that error -- bombing in job interviews with inappropriate jokes, struggling for recognition as a writer, and repeatedly getting intertwined in awkward conversations with friends and boys. While Dunham concedes that Hannah's a loveable "schlub," she admits that she tries to differentiate herself from the character when she has the chance.

"Girls" co-star Allison Williams told CNN that she can't even count the number of mistakes women make throughout their 20s.

"Making any kind of decisions while under the influence of either too much food or too much alcohol!" she said. "Boys - just as an entire category. Financial decisions."

The actress, daughter of NBC News' Brian Williams, added that another big misstep is "thinking they need to be done growing up at any point, that's the biggest mistake. The most fun is finding yourself and the actual pursuit of it."

Jemima Kirke, who plays the Bohemian and free-spirited Jessa in the series, agreed that women in their 20s can't be expected to have everything figured out -- especially when it comes to dating.

"The mistake that came to my head is trying to find, like, the perfect man, the man that you're going to spend the rest of your life with," she said. "Actually in your 20s you're going to have all the wrong men probably!"

Christopher Abbott, one of the guys of "Girls," sounded off on that as well, revealing the one secret he thinks 20-something ladies should know about men.

Simply put, "Have patience!" Abbott said.

Yet fans of "Girls" have had little patience for the show's second season, which has prompted numerous screening parties across the country.

For fans who can't get enough of the half-hour comedy, more of Dunham's musings about 20-something life will soon be available in literary format. The 26-year-old signed a book deal with Random House this fall for a reported $3.7 million.

"I hope that my book gives people that have loved the show an insight to another layer of my psychology," Dunham told CNN. "What I've learned about sort of life and love and friendship and relationships. And I also hope it attracts people that have never seen the show!"
