Bob and weave
OK, you're anchor for the day on CBS' Face The Nation. Are you smarter than Bob Schieffer? Do you know what questions to ask the Attorney General? Because apparently Bob didn't.Here's a hint for you novices: news is what's new. OK, what was the newest, biggest story coming out of the Department of Justice leading up to Bob's sitdown with Eric Holder?Ding! Ding! Ding! You're right. (Because you read my blog.) It was Holder's former DOJ lawyer-turned whistleblower, claiming higher-ups not only ordered the dismissal of the voting rights case against the New Black Panthers, they also began a policy of no pursuing of any cases like that against racial minorities. Now, wouldn't it be good to get the AG's reaction to that? You think?!Just as disturbing during the 30-minute show -- exclusively with Holder -- was Schiefffer's outright distortion of the Arizona immigration law, which you can see here. (Another hint: Go about 2:15 into the clip; the part where Schieffer says the law gives police the right to pull people over if they suspect they're illegals.)So what's the deal with Schieffer when it comes to those two subjects? Is he clueless? Biased? Were his questions screened by Holder?Whatever the answer, it was a shameful exhibition. You could've done better than "broadcast journalism's most experienced Washington reporter."
