Flu Shot Season Approaches

Healthwatch 3

It's flu-shot season already, and for the first time health authorities are urging nearly everyone to get vaccinated.

You typically don't associate getting a flu shot when temperatures are in the 90's, but pharmacies across the Arklatex already have them.

Debra Boddie is one of the many people who stopped by Walgreens on Market Street in Shreveport Tuesday to get a flu shot.

"The season is really unpredictable so the earlier you get it the more protection you have, it's never to early to get the shot," says Walgreens Pharmacist Larry LeDuff.

This years all-in-one shot promises protection against the swine flu strain plus two other kinds of influenza.

LeDuff says it's important for everyone over 6 months old to get a shot once a year to protect themselves.
