Specialist Hospital Shreveport is ranked number one in Louisiana for joint replacement and now they're sharing their expertise. Doctors at the hospital have had a special guest from Nicaragua for about two weeks who is getting a first hand look on procedures here, with the hopes of returning home with better techniques to help his people. Dr. Oscar Espinoza is from Nicaragua and recent missionary trip that opened the door for him to come and learn from some of the best. He says there are many surgeries in his country but none like these.
"We don't have too much instrument, I have, we have basic instrument for orthroscopic surgery," said Dr. Espinoza.
Shoulder Specialist Dr. David Googe says what's taught here will change lives hundreds of miles away.
"Seeing how we do things and learning how we do surgical procedures here will help him add more and give more back to his people."
