TITUS COUNTY, Tx. -

A Mount Pleasant man is behind bars accused of injuring a young child.
On Friday, December 28th, 2012, the Titus County Sheriff’s Office was made aware by Child Protective Services of a child, only weeks old, being treated for trauma to the brain.
Sheriff’s investigators immediately launched and after interviewing the father of the child, Christopher Michael Amerson, it was determined that the child was injured while in his care, custody and control.
While details of the investigation cannot be released, investigators say that an affidavit of probable cause was prepared and presented to the Titus County District Attorney who supported the findings.
An arrest warrant was eventually issued for Amerson, 22.
He was arrested and booked into Titus County Jail, Thursday.
Amerson is charged with injury to a child, a second degree felony which can carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and fines not exceeding $10,000.
