CADDO PARISH, La. -

A Keatchie man was arrested by Caddo Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday for being impaired when he crashed his vehicle and caused a 4-year-old boy to be ejected from the car.
The crash happened July 3, 2012, on Hwy. 169 in Keithville.
According to the sheriff’s office, a citizen was flagged down by the child after Daniel Jackson lost control of his Chevy Cavalier and drove it off the highway and into the woods. Both Jackson and the child were ejected.
Authorities say there was no child safety seat in the vehicle.
Jackson was transported to the LSUHSC with serious injuries, and the child was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released.
Cpl. Ken Davis of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit obtained a warrant for Jackson’s arrest for vehicular negligent injury, driving under the influence with child endangerment, and child safety restraint violations.
Deputies found the Jackson, 25, hiding in the bathroom of his house on Keatchie Marshall Road.
He was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center where he was booked on the warrant.
No bond has been set.
