The economic forecast looks optimisitic heading into 2010. Despite widespread layoffs across the region, the Arklatex is fairing better than much of the country. The national unemployment rate reached 10% last month and hit a high of 14.7% in Michigan. But here in Louisiana the numbers took a dip to 6.3% this month. But thanks to the Haynesville Shale, a lot of drilling is going on and that means jobs. Plus, Global Command is bringing 900 military and civilian jobs to Barksdale. The many hospitals and medical facilities are always hiring. And Red River Parish is welcoming a multi-million dollar carbon manufacturing plant.
