POSTED: 9:19 am CDT July 14, 2010UPDATED: 2:46 pm CDT July 14, 2010 The delivery truck driver killed Wednesday morning when his truck crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer rig that had stopped in heavy traffic on Interstate 20 in Bossier City has been identified as Anthony Jordan Copia, 24, of Bossier City.
The 8:35 a.m. accident happened on westbound I-20 near the Hamilton Road exit.
Copia, a driver for Porter's cleaners, was trapped in the truck after the collision. A Fire Department rescue squad rushed to extricate Copia from the wreckage but he was dead when firefighters got to him, authorities said.
Police Department spokesman Mark Natale said an Old Dominion truck pulling a tandem trailer was stopped in heavy traffic when the delivery truck rear-ended it.
The driver of the tractor-trailer rig was not hurt, Natale said. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
The section of I-20 around the wreck was blocked for about 90 minutes while police investigated the crash and the wreckage was cleared.
