Balloon Release To Be Held in Memory of Myranda Becton
A balloon release in honor of Myranda Becton, the Bossier City teenager who died along with her boyfriend in what authorities said was a double suicide, will be honored with a balloon release Thursday -- on what would have been her 16th birthday.
The release of pink balloons will be at 5 p.m. at North Bossier Park on Old Brownlee Road, said family friend Gina Blair.
Becton and her boyfriend, Dylan Kennedy, 16, were found dead last month in the cab of a pickup parked on a dead-end road just outside Bossier City. The Airline High School students each had gunshot wounds to the heart and suicide notes were found with them, Bossier Parish sheriff's investigators said.
Members of Becton's family objected to the couple's relationship. The teenagers had told some friends they would kill themselves if they could not be together.
Investigators and the coroner concluded the teenagers died in a double suicide pact in which each shot themselves. Authorities had investigated two theories: The deaths were a double suicide, or that he shot her and then turned the gun on himself.
