Shreveport mayoral candidate Debra Lindsey has withdrawn from this fall's race.

Lindsey, vice president of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, said family reasons led to her decision. She did not endorse anyone else in the race.

" As much as I would like to lead the progress over the next four years, it is best for my family at this time to give priority to their needs," Lindsey said in a statement on Tuesday. She did not elaborate on her reasons.

Seven people are challenging Mayor Cedric Glover in his bid for a second term: State Rep. Roy Burrell, Shreveport City Councilman Bryan Wooley, Caddo Parish Commissioner David Cox, Dana Buhnke, Southwood High School student Parker Ward, Tim Goeders and Hersy Jones.

The election is Oct. 2.
