An armed robber is on the run after holding up a fast food restaurant in Shreveport Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight a man approached two employees as they were exiting from the back of the Burger King in the 1600 block of Kings Highway.

Police say the suspect, who was wielding a semi-automatic handgun, forced the employees back inside.

After getting cash and coins from the safe, the suspect fled on foot and jumped into a nearby ditch, headed west. Investigators say the robber lost some of his loot while in the ditch.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'8" tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue Dickies pants, black tennis shoes and a blue bandana covering his face.

Police are urging anyone with information about this case to contact Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
