Employee Shot As He Leaves Post Office
A U.S. Postal Service employee was shot shortly after midnight Wednesday as he left the main post office in Shreveport.
James Harper, 51, was in his personal vehicle and was pulling out of the Texas Avenue facility about 12:08 a.m. when he was shot in the arm, Shreveport police said.
Police said the shooter jumped in front of Harper's truck and started shooting at him before running away.
Police said they did not know the motive for the shooting.
No arrests had been made this morning. Police said they had little information about the description of the shooter.
The wound was not life-threatening, the Fire Department said.
It was the second crime in that part of the city in just over 10 minutes.
At approximately 12:20 a.m., two employees at the Burger King in the 1600 block of Kings Highway were robbed.
Police said the employees were leaving the business when they were confronted by a man with a gun. He forced them back into the restaurant and took an undisclosed amount of money, police said. No one was injured during the robbery.
