War On Crime Leaves Battle Scars
by Chris Redford
The war on drugs and other crimes in Shreveport is leaving several officers with battle scars.
Undercover narcotics agents say in the last week, they've been involved in nearly half a dozen violent altercations with suspects challenging authority.
"We've had individuals stand up and ball their fists up," said one agent about an incident last Friday.
In the last few weeks, two people have been arrested for threatening the life and safety of officers.
One man is accused of trying to kill an officer by ramming his patrol car during a chase. A second man was arrested after police say he dragged an officer behind his car for nearly a hundred feet.
Authorities say when people fight an officer, they're not just fighting one officer, they're fighting the entire legal system.
Police say the bad guys are fighting a losing battle.
