He Stole Her Heart And The Credit Card, Too
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something...
Stolen.
A Shreveport man has been arrested on charges he took a company credit card from his fiancee's purse and used it to buy her engagement ring.
He's in jail -- and the wedding's off.
Investigators said the fiancee found out her boyfriend was a lothario: He had asked another girl to marry him and also had three girlfriends on the side.
"He messed with the wrong person," Fiancee No. 1 said, speaking on the condition her name not be used.
Under arrest is Larry Hill, 40, of the 2000 block of Southland Park Drive. The Caddo Parish sheriff's financial crimes unit booked him on charges of unauthorized use of an access card.
Investigators said more people know Hill by the other name he uses: Timothy Butler. He worked at a Minden restaurant, investigators said.
Sgt. Bobby Herring said the card belonged to the fiancee's employer. In addition to the $6,000 ring, the card was used by the couple during weekend trips to Arkansas, Herring said. The total of unauthorized charges was $6,405.
The fiancee seldom used the company card and didn't realize it was missing, Herring said. Her boss spotted the charges.
Hill took an overdose of painkillers after he found out he was under investigation and had to be hospitalized, Herring said.
Hill was held at Caddo Correctional Center on Monday under $150,000 bond.
