The National Hurricane Center just downgraded Earl to a tropical storm with 70 mph winds. Movement is northeast at 25 mph. The forecast calls for continued weakening with this same motion through Saturday as it arrives in Nova Scotia. Heavy rain, gusty winds and pounding seas should hamper New England for the rest of tonight then let up tomorrow as the storm moves toward Canada.
