Sign Of Pride Is Target Of Dispute

The South Bossier Neighborhood Association has told a family to take down a sign in support of their Marine son or face litigation.

Timothy and Jodi Burr have lived in The Gardens subdivision and their son, Corey, is currently deployed in Afghanistan. The couple put up a banner in their front yard in his support.

But the neighborhood's covenant says "no signs of any kind shall be displayed to the public view" even though other signs are in front yards.

The Burrs' sign is bigger and a lot of others, but they believe they are being singled out.

"There are numerous infractions all over this neighborhood, and we feel like they just picked ours out, because of the message on the banner", Timothy Burr said.

The neighborhood association's attorney, Geoff Westmoreland, said they do support the troops. He would not comment on the sign issue while the matter is pending in court.
