Marigolds are a popular warm season annual bedding plant in Louisiana. The "african" varieties are large growing with large flowers. Marigolds are good for 3-4 months of landscape performance. A spring planting performs well until early summer. A mid-summer planting will last until first frost. Avoid overhead irrigation and removal old flowers once a week to extend the bloom period.
