Arkansas' sole Democratic congressman joined Republicans in voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal contempt of Congress over a botched gun-tracking operation.
U.S. Rep. Mike Ross said he voted for the resolution because he believed more answers were needed regarding the operation known as Fast and Furious. Thursday's vote was the first time a sitting Cabinet member has been held in contempt.
Republicans pushed through the resolution because Holder did not turn over documents related to the operation.
Republican Congressmen Rick Crawford, Tim Griffin and Steve Womack of Arkansas also supported the contempt resolution.
Ross is a Democrat who represents south Arkansas, and announced last year that he would not run for re-election this year. He was among 17 Democrats who voted in favor of contempt.
