It's been said "Crime doesn't pay."
And it definately won't pay for an armed robber once Shreveport police catch up with him. He got away with a few bucks, but police say once he's caught he could spend the rest of his natural born life behind bars.
It was an awfully big manhunt in Shreveport's little Texas neighborhood as officers and a canine searched high and low for the armed robber.
Marc Watson says he was leaving the AM-PM on Youree Drive and East Washington when a young man walked up to him with a semi-automatic handgun.
"He just pulled it out of his jacket pocket pointed it sideways at me and said, 'Give me what you've got,'" said Watson.
Watson only had ten bucks on him. He gave it to the robber and the armed man ran off.
Corporal Chris Colvin was one of nearly half a dozen officers who arrived on scene within seconds of the 9-1-1 call.
Police drove down every street and walked down every path hoping to find the robber. It may seem like a lot of manpower for just ten bucks, but not to these dedicated officers.
"If it was fifty cents or a penny, we'd go after him. That's the way it is," said Cpl. Colvin
Colvin says the most important thing is no one was injured, just very shaken up.
Watson hopes the robber enjoys his ten bucks, because thanks to tougher state laws once he's caught, he faces a maximum 99-year prison sentence.
