A suspect in a fatal shooting is now in police custody following his surrender at police headquarters on yesterday.

 Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Monday January 7, 2012, officials with the Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to a reported shooting that occurred in the 2500 block of Mabel Street in Shreveport's Queensborough neighborhood. 

Upon officers arrival there, they learned that an adult male had been shot by an assailant who reportedly fled the scene immediately following the shooting. 

The victim in the shooting was rushed to LSUHSC, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. 

Witnesses on scene at the crime reported to authorities that the victim had allegedly been engaged in an apparent argument moments before the shooting occurred.  

Investigators with Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene and began their queries. 

During the course of the investigation, 20 year old Cordavien Anderson was developed as a suspect in the shooting. 

After attempts to locate Anderson at a known address were made, Anderson arrived at police headquarters where he surrendered to authorities without incident. 

Following interviews with investigators, Anderson was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of second degree murder.
