A Caddo Parish art teacher who was killed in a traffic accident on Monday is being remembered by hundreds of students who gather for Artbreak this week.

Patsy Jackson taught art at Midway Elementary in Shreveport.

She would have been proudly reviewing her students' work displayed at the Shreveport Convention Center this week -- but Jackson, 54, was killed in a head-on collision near Hall Summit.

The driver of a dually truck crossed the center line of U.S. 71 Monday morning and crashed into Jackson's oncoming car.

Henry Price, art supervisor for Caddo Parish schools, remembered Jackson as an outstanding art teacher.

"The art teacher has an opportunity to work with every single student on the campus, so that's a real loss for all the students at Midway Elementary," Price said.
