Bossier City Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a man and a woman that occurred at a residence in the 2400 block of Belmont Boulevard. Police were called to the scene just before 10 a.m. Monday after a family member arrived at the home and found Margaret Mitchell, 84, and Roy Mitchell, 86, unresponsive inside the residence. Investigators say both had sustained gunshot wounds.

Based on information and evidence collected at the scene, detectives with the BCPD Violent Crimes Unit and the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office say the incident appears to be a case of murder-suicide in which Mr. Mitchell shot and killed Mrs. Mitchell with a handgun then shot himself.

Bossier City police are continuing their investigation into the shootings.
