A man is behind bars after a 12-year-old is wounded during a shooting in east Shreveport.
 Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit have arrested a man they say is responsible for a shooting that has left a 12 year old boy in serious condition. On November 6, 2012 at approximately 6:22 p.m., Shreveport Police Officer's responded to a home located in the 7500 block of Fairfield Avenue relative to a shooting. Upon officer's arrival, contact was made with witnesses at the scene who advised that a 12 year old male had been wounded after someone present at the home was mis-handling a firearm. The 12 year old victim, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the lower body was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to LSUHSC where he remains in serious condition.
Investigators and Crime Scene personnel responded to the home launching their inquiry. During the course of the investigation, Brandon Mack of Shreveport was developed as a suspect in the shooting. On November 7, 2012, Mack was contacted by investigators, who following interviews at police headquarters, arrested Mack and charged him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. It was learned during the investigation that the shooting accidental. Mack was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
