Vehicle break-ins jump during holiday shopping season

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says his department usually sees around five car break-ins a year. In just the past two weeks, they received reports about three times that number. In each case, the owner left his or her vehicle unlocked overnight.
Here are tips to keep you car and your valuables safe:
Lock your car
Roll up windows
Take keys with you
Hide possessions from sight
Carry valuables with you
Be alert
Report suspicious behavior to police or security
