Be Fair Shreveport

    Drivers in Shreveport can see billboards around the city promoting fairness in the workplace.

    The ad's are a joint effort between Forum for Equality  and People Acting for Change and Equality... or P.A.C.E.

    This is the second round of advertising for the group "Be Fair Shreveport" and they're making progress.

    Adrienne Critcher with P.A.C.E. says "we're trying to raise awareness in the Shreveport-Bossier area of how gay people, lesbians, gay, bisexual, and transgender people suffer some injustices particularly in the workplace."

    Critcher says a private-sector employee in Shreveport can be fired simply for being gay... regardless of job performance. one way her organization.. pace... is getting the word out... billboards on Shreveport roads.

    Organizers are also meeting with local businesses about their own nondiscrimination policies with some success.

    Moonbot Studios recently added gender identity to their handbook's equal opportunity policy after they realized it had been overlooked.

    Critcher says if Shreveport and businesses here widen non discrimination policies it could bring big names to the area while making sure talented workers don't leave for other more worker-friendly cities.

    P.A.C.E. officials say next they hope to meet with city council members and the chamber of commerce for more results.
