One man is dead and another behind bars following a fight over the weekend in west Shreveport.

At approximately 5:51 p.m. on July 7, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Miles Street relative to a disorderly person call. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 56 year old Michael Blackshire suffering serious injuries to his upper body. Mr. Blackshire, who was reported to be unconscious, was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to LSUHSC where he later died.

Upon further investigation, officers learned the victim and a known suspect, identified as 33 year old Marecellus Adams, were involved in an altercation during which Adams allegedly armed himself with some sort of weapon and struck the victim with it multiple times. Adams, of the 2700 block of Meadow Avenue in Shreveport, was arrested by officers Sunday morning without incident and has been charged with one count of second degree murder.
