Bossier Fire Department Fire Safety Training Class
Fire safety month
The presentation is all fun and games but fire prevention is serious business when it comes to area students. The Bossier City Fire Department began its annual fire safety program at Stockwell Elementary School. Throughout October fire prevention officers will present the program to more than eight-thousand children in Bossier City. The program features a multimedia presentation with a puppet show video presentation and appearances by Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie the Fire Truck.
"When you start them off early and we teach them every year the same program, stop, drop and roll it's kinda like muscle memory, you know in the event they do have an emergency they're gonna automatically know what to do," said Fire Training Chief Jerry Nuckolls.
This year's theme is "Know 2 Ways Out!" and focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice.
