BOSSIER PARISH, La. -

A head-on collision killed a Webster Parish teen and injured at least two others.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday on LA Highway 164 just west of the Bossier-Webster line.

Louisiana State Police investigators say a 1999 Dodge Caravan, driven by 17-year-old Joshua Kirkheart of Doyline, was traveling east on Highway 164 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, which was being driven by 19-year-old Aaron Hickinbottom of Lubbock, Texas.

Both drivers sustained what are considered to be life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Matthew Kirkheart, 15, a passenger of the Dodge Caravan, sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish coroner.

Seven people total were taken to local hospitals as a result of the crash.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.
