Bossier Police Department Receives Seized Asset Funds From Drug Investigations
On Friday, the Bossier District Attorney’s Office presented the Bossier City Police Department with a check in the amount of $18,114 from property seized as a result of drug investigations conducted over the past several months.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin presented Chief Shane McWilliams with a check representing 60% of the total amount of assets seized from suspects in 12 narcotics investigations conducted since August of 2012. Those assets include items such as cash, vehicles and other property.
The Bossier City Police Department will use the money to fund future drug enforcement operations by the Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force. Chief McWilliams and Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington formed the task force in October of last year by bringing narcotics agents with both agencies together to form a single drug fighting unit for Bossier City and Bossier Parish.
The district attorney’s office receives 20% of the total asset funds while the remaining 20% goes to the Bossier Parish Criminal Court Fund.
