The northern extension of the Teague Parkway in Bossier City, now underway, is expected to be completed in seven to nine months, the city's engineer said.

The parkway is being extended from Hamilton Road to an Interstate 20 access ramp near Boomtown Casino.

The city wants to extend the parkway south to Sligo Road and U.S. 71 but is still getting the money together. City Engineer Mark Hudson said the city needs to appropriate $9 million for construction and to acquire property from some private owners before that can begin.

"I'm hopeful that by the end of the year that we can actually start that process," Hudson said.
