The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Departmetn has activated its armed robbery task force, which puts extra deputies in place to guard against holdups during the holidays.

The 18-member task force, which started work over the weekend, will be deployed through the end of the year, Sheriff Larry Deen said.

The deputies will ride in both marked patrol cars and undercover vehicles. They could be at businesses or waiting on parking lots, Deen said.

Robberies often increase during the Christmas holidays as people try to get more money.
