Bryant teacher facing sex with student charges

BENTON, Ark. -

A former 9th-grade English teacher in the Bryant School District has been charged with sexual assault for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Thirty-one-year-old Courtney Speer was charged Wednesday when she appeared in Saline County Circuit Court. She was later released on bond.

Her attorneys and the school district declined comment.

Authorities say Speer resigned Monday.

Police say the boy told investigators he and Speer had sex both in her car in the school parking lot and at her home in Benton.
