Shreveport Police are out in full force hoping to curb the crime in the city's Highland neighborhood .
Authorities say burglars have been running rampant in the area.
Dan Marcalus not only lives in Highland, he alo serves on the Restoration Association.
He says for a while, home and vehicle burglaries were non-stop.
"A few of my friends called up and said they got burglarized and said it was one after another. One day after another, said Marcalus.
In fact, police say the number increased by nearly 30% but things are changing.
"Since we've been here for the last three weeks, we've had zero burglaries," said Cpl. Joel Davidson.
He says the dramatic decrease has a lot to do with beefed up patrols and special operations in the area.
Cpl. Davidson says officers will keep making a difference every day and not just in Highland but all over the city.
