The Caddo Parish School Board has narrowed its list of candidates for the superintendent of schools' job.
Board members have announced 10 finalists.
No local educators made the cut and only one candidate is from Louisiana. One is currently working in the Middle East.
The School Board, which could not agree on a choice on its previous hiring effort, hopes to select a new superintendent next month.

Gerald Dawkins, superintendent of Saginaw, Mich., City Schools
Theodore Haig of the Supreme Education Council in Doha, Qatar
William Harner of the Recovery School District in New Orleans
Leon Hobbs, associate superintendent of Pinellas School District in Largo, Fla.
Joan Kowal, superintendent in residence at Nova Southeastern University in North Miami Beach, Fla.
Patricia Pickles, CEO superintendent A+ Standards of Excellence, Pflugerville, Texas, ISD
Herman Smith, director of academic affairs of University of Phoenix in Dallas
Arthur Stellar, superintendent of Taunton, Mass., public schools
Thomas Tocco, superintendent of Fort Worth ISD
