A teacher at Midway Elementary School in Shreveport was killed today in a head-on crash in Red River Parish.

Patsy Jackson, 54, of Coushatta, was killed when her Hyundai collided with a one-ton dually truck whose driver had crossed the center line of the two-lane highway..

The accident happened about 7:45 a.m. on U.S. 71 near Hall Summit.

State Police said Jackson, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Dodge truck, Blaine Smith, 26, of Haughton, was taken to a hospital but was not seriously injured, troopers said.

Charges had not been filed this afternoon pending completion of the investigation, troopers said.
