SHREVEPORT, La. -

Centenary College announced today that the College secured over $5 million for the Centenary Fund for Student Scholarships. Generous donor contributions combined to accomplish the third largest annual fund on record in the history of the institution during the 2012 fiscal year, which ended June 30.
This year’s success was due in part to the Million Dollar Scholarship Challenge, an initiative established by anonymous donors to boost student scholarship gifts, according to information provided by the school. The goal of $1 million in contributions was met and exceeded during the spring. The Challenge matched every dollar donated to the Centenary Fund during this period, essentially doubling each donor’s support.“Credit for our success belongs to our loyal donors,” said Fred Landry, Senior Director of Philanthropy. “However, we are now in a new year with a new goal. July 1 marked a new fiscal year, and we will again be renewing our efforts to provide important funding for the operation of the College, support for our dedicated faculty, and an investment in the future through the accomplishments and leadership of our students in the world following graduation.”
