A 7-year old Simms, Texas boy is being credited with saving his family from an early morning house fire.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. Friday at house off FM 990.

Bowie County volunteer firefighters crews say Jayden Gipson, 7, alerted his dad to smoke in his room, that's when the family ran out into the yard.

Jayden's father was airlifted to Little Rock Children's Hospital for burn treatment.

His mom and two siblings were not injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
