Wendi Roach spent her 25th birthday in a coma.
The Bossier City woman doesn't remember much about the car crash in Memphis, Tennessee that knocked her unconscious for 14 days, but her mother does. Mary Bryant says the doctor didn't know whether Wendi would make it. "Her head was...it was really, really bad," said Bryant.
But Wendi did emerge from the coma and when she awoke, had to learn how to walk again. She coped with double vision and a big change in personality.
All of the sudden, Wendi said almost everything she was thinking. Wendi and most people around her kept a sense of humor about her inappropriate comments.
Wendi also started painting seemingly accomplished pieces of art. She now has an ability to delve into projects. And she got married after her injury. "I wouldn't see my life any other way. I mean, I feel as though if I hadn't been in an accident, I would not have been brought home. I would not have visited with and fallen in love with my husband," said Wendi.
