Could NWLa get Amtrak high-speed rail to Dallas?
Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker says a passenger train between Shreveport-Bossier City and Dallas-Fort Worth would be great for quality of life and for the economy.
He was among local officials and legislators who got a private ride along the route on a lavish antique rail car.
The Times (http://bit.ly/SVH9iN ) reports that the ride last week was given by The East Texas Corridor Council (ETCC), a regional organization dedicated to securing high-speed rail service for the Interstate 20 and Interstate 69 corridors.
Amtrak runs its Texas Eagle train on Union Pacific rail lines. It runs past the Shreveport-Bossier City area, but doesn't stop. Northwest Louisiana passengers can get a bus to the Dallas-Fort Worth station at a curbside stop at Shreveport Regional Airport.
